How to Use This
Newer computers should have no trouble loading this site. We recommend minimizing any tool bars in your browser so the entire window will be dedicated to viewing the site and readers will not have to scroll too much. Note that on PCs and Macs with screens smaller than 17", the resolution should be set to 800x600 or 1024 x 768 if possible.

We have chosen Arial, a common sans-serif font, as the base font for the project. The small font size employed saves readers from scrolling up and down too much. Those with older monitors who are being forced to do lots of side-to-side scrolling may wish to reduce the font size for their Web browsers. Select "View" from either Netscape's or Explorer's menu, then select either "text size" (Explorer 5/Netscape 6) or "change font size" (Netscape 4.7). We have had excellent results with the open-source browser Mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org) and encourage users to try this browser too to support the open -source movement that also inspired this project.

Navigating a Web site with frames can be frustrating. Since this project opens in a new browser window, however, "escaping" is as simple as closing the project window (though any work done on a response will be lost). Doing this will return your browser to our logo page and outside the frameset.

The project consists of a menu frame and three "content" frames:

1) Main and scenario menus appear in the top half of the browser window
2) Writers' essays will appear in the bottom left frame
3) A short writing exercise will appear in the bottom right frame. Note this these exercises are no longer e-mail based because of security issues in the prior version's use of the Formmail script. While we search for an alternative for all users, the writing activity will appear in a new window or tab for completion and printing.
4) Video clips and scenario notes will appear at the right
.

Note that if you "get lost" in a scenario, a mouse click on "introduction" will return you to this web page as you see it here, but note that anything written in the response frame will be lost. Note, too, that the project opened in a new window from your browser; exiting the project is as easy as closing this window.
