Other Learning Disabilities

There are many reasons why a student might be having difficulty with writing skills. Although poor writing does not always constitute a learning disability there are many disabilities that can effect how a student writes. Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is a common disability that takes away a student's ability to focus on a paper. Other disabilities can effect specific areas of a student's writing. Often a student will have concentrated difficulties in spelling, grammar, sentence structure or staying on target. Techniques that can help a student who has a known disorder can be just as effective when applied to a student who is having difficulty in a specific area of writing.
