Community Service Day 2002

Every year the University of Richmond chooses a site for volunteer work. At Elkhardt Middle School in the City of Richmond, student, staff, and faculty volunteers painted, cleaned, and landscaped one Saturday morning in the fall of 2002. Project Reboot provided printers, memory upgrades, and a few extra computers for Math teachers at Elkhardt. During the rest of the 2002-2003 school year, Reboot volunteers will continue to help these teachers and others at Elkhardt with more upgrades, peripherals, and technical support.

Getting room 200 spruced up. This classroom also received an Apple Laserprinter from the university. Students from Richmond and Elkhardt team up in the hallway to do some painting. UR President Bill Cooper and many other senior administrators lent a hand with painting and other work.
Joe Essid and Sakeb Nazim work on Ms. Artis' two Mac G3s. Channel 12 news team talks to Joe and Sakeb about working with the Elkhardt staff and students.

Project Reboot would like to thank Phil Sherman, UR Telecom and Media Services, for these photos. We'd also like to thank Dr. Barbara Chapman, principal at Elkhardt, Dr. Bill Cooper, President of the University of Richmond, Dr. David Burhans, UR Chaplain, and Ms. Grace Holcomb, of UR's Bonner Scholar Program, for their participation in and support of our work.
